Background: Grant always had a mighty pair of shoes to fill. His father, Argent Benedict was an advisor to Emperor Demosthene even before the first Great War. It was Argent that provided a pivotal role in turning aside the Legion's Armies from nearing the capitol, and he was the Archmage that defeated the corrupted Empress when she transformed into a succubus, loyal to Bathrezen. At the time, Grant was a simple apprentice mage, but as he aged, his father's shadow loomed over him like an oppressive wraith, impervious to anything Grant could do to try to compare.
During the second Great War, Grant hoped to distinguish himself from his father, and live up to the Benedict name. However fate conspired against him. During the most pivotal battles against Uther's uprising, and the tumult that rippled through the Empire after Demosthene's death, Grant was stationed near the Clan border, dealing with the occasional rogue giant. It wasn't until the Elves' attack on Temperance, that Grant was in the line of fire, and his meager abilities were a scant pitance against the raging onslaught of the children of Gallean. He was forced to retreat as much as every other human in the city. However, because of his father's influence, Grant has been stationed as a new governor for an Imperial town near the quiet border with the undead who recently have seemed far more restful than they have been in the past few years. Resigned to a life of mediocrity, Grant is ignorant of the path that Fate seals for him.
