This is an 'hello i'm new here...' topic so you can introduce yourself to this forum. So.... hello there, my name is Marko and I was directed here by blitzkrieg's post over at .dat Disciples 3 forum. There we played RP too, but focused more on storytelling then having a rule system. You can read the edited first chapter of our little adventure here Click(In the Fan Lore Section). Also over at Strategy First's forum another RP storytelling topic existed that at the moment is hibernating check it out here. I'm ready to plunge into RP here also and enjoy the adventures we'll create. But before that 2 questions: 1. How do I get started? 2. Can we open a forum section dedicated to the Desert Sage we have been developing over at the . dat forum?

Good morning, or I guess in your case, good afternoon. Welcome. The best way to get started is read through the Character Creation thread and the Fundamentals so you can get a general idea on how to start a character and what everything means. I tried to keep this as true as I could the the Disciples, so other than a few changes to make this about one character/party per player, I had to tweak things a little. However as a struggling writer, I am more concerned about the story stuff as well, and the rules are mostly there to get everyone on the same page to start, and keep power-players on a leash, so to speak. I'd be happy to include a section to Desert Sage, if you would just give me a quick overview as to what it is. Or show me the link so I can try to figure it out myself. Thanks, and welcome again.

Since my registration I've took my time and read this forum. I must say great stories so far. And a very interesting way of mixing storytelling and disciples game mechanics. I'll start modifying The Desert Saga to fit your forums model, then I'll post an overview and we'll see what happens.
A short description would be: The story of a city built ontop of Alkmaar ruins in the Desert south of the Merchants Sea. Three chapters have been played, first chapter has been edited and online, the second edited and waiting to be placed online, the third pending to be edited.

I put up a Fanfic section if you want to post the Desert Sage there. I'll read through it in more detail and maybe add some of the ideas to this RP. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with, and if you don't mind, I'll add the link to the Seek & Destroy website to the links section.

Hey Blitz, long time no speak.
Anyways, I'm Arderius, tho like the dark lord himself I am known by many names. I know blitz from back when he rose from the serfs to pretty much rule over Insiider, which so happens to be where I got this link from.
I too have a question before I get goin' here. - So Blitz, do you really have that many posts or you just like the high number?
I haven't read over anything yet, but seeing as Blitz is running it, I know it can't be bad. Anyways, so you know, I don't know how active I'll be. I work many graveyard shifts at work, usually average about four hours of sleep a day, and hang out with friends quite often. And truthfully, after working 8 hours on graveyard, catching a few hours of sleep, then hittin' the breeze with friends, I don't really feel like coming to the comp. So I'm not on as much as I used to be. So I don't know how it'll work out. But yea, I'm here anyways.

Good to see you again. I kept meaning to respond to the PM about the other site, but being the old man that I am, I kept spacing on it. I'd imagine that this RP is going to be pretty slow. But hopefully players can get involved with a couple a good characters and will stick around for awhile. So invite your freinds, and enjoy. Don't worry about having to spend too much time here though. It's setup so that you can moe at your own speed and basically allows you to setup your own quests, since you can establish your own parties. So feel free to lurk for awhile, and get involved when you can.

P.S. say hi to Windrider and Deimos. I was quick to drag them in too. Ain't I wicked!

Unfortunatly I've recently moved so I don't get to talk to many of my friends from back home often cuz of the time difference and such. Also since I haven't been rping in the last year, I've also lost contact with most of my RP friends, and to top it off, the few friends I have here, not into the RPin', even rp games. But yea, next time I'm talkin' to a few online, I'll drop the word.
Thanks man.

A role playing forum game? I never tried one before! Maybe when I find some time I'll see what it's all about, if it's not too hard to understand .

Welcome to our forum RP game!
When interacting with this forum you have these possible modes of play: 1. Writting on your own a storyline. You have, most of the time, complete control of your plots and characters. 2. Calling users to play NPCs with your character in a storyline. This is more dynamic, plots and objectives change all the time, based on the inspiration and curent situation. 3. Joining as an NPC the saga of another character. Tag along and develop a story with a fellow forum user.
You can play all there modes, you are not restricted to only one.
What you need first, is a character ...
There is kinda an openning to play the sister of an already established character. (Her name is Matchy Weeyico), If you want and the "owner" of the character agrees, you can play her. If not, you can start a character from scratch.
When you make a decision, or have time to play. Drop by and ask for further information. And don't worry, if you know to use a keyboard, a basic grasp of english, aritmetics and a pinch of organizational skills, this forum game won't be so hard.
Cheers!

Forum-based RPGs give you a chance to do everything that you would want to do in video or other text-based RPGs. You have greater control over your own character, even moreso than an in-person RPG, because you can guide what your character says and does in every instance. You can do everything yourself, or mix it up with another player or group. Its up to you. In this RP, I designed it to allow players to control their style of play. And it depends on what character(s) you want to create/develop. You can select one character to be your entire focus, or write about a group (as in Fellowship of the Ring), or an entire town/city. That depends on how you want to play. My suggestion is, first determine if you are interested in the setting. This RPG is set in a land called Nevendaar that is based off of a computer game called Disciples and Disciples 2. If you are familiar with the setting, look at the character creation thread and the fundamentals thread to get an idea of what everything is and means. Keep in mind that this is a freeform RPG, which means that you can determine what is going on, and not base it off of your official stats. Those stats are used to prevent a player from attacking other players and dominating them without significant work, and as a guide to their abilities. However if you are new to the Disciples franchise, I'd recommend you read up on the history of Nevendaar to understand what everything is about and what it all means. Welcome and feel free to ask if you have any questions.
